Statement of intent : I am an Egyptian director of photography [d.o.p] since 1992. In the past few years, I continued to grow and filmed a string of cutting-edge programs, classic documentaries, and docu-series including festival entries, in addition to feature films, commercials, TV programs and music videos. I also worked as a lighting designer for indoor, outdoor concerts, and conferences.
I have filmed in many countries worldwide starting from Morocco, Syria, Jordon, Lebanon, Kuwait, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, England, Turkey, France, and all the way to Brazil. I have to say that my well-travelled multicultural background makes me easily adaptable to work proficiently in any location.
Perspective : My aim is to work in all different branches of my field focusing on arts, literary in its broadcast sense. Communication of the arts to a wider public is something I consider extremely important and was the original aim when I decided to enter this business.
I believe that this communication of arts must be both entertaining and informative, and can be achieved in a variety of ways, starting from objective scripts to popular appeal programs and interactive formats.
I am constantly dedicated to the filming of entertaining projects that are high in concept with original cinematic vision and offbeat topics that reflect the diversity and complexity of the human nature. I will remain committed to pushing the boundaries of politics, culture and society.
The entertainment industry is a delicate balance between art and business. Achieving the balance between the two disparities is an on-going struggle. Yet, the existence of each depends on the other. I realize the importance of each and their impact on one another and how their welfare is essential for us to succeed. After all, my ultimate goal is to leave a legacy of lasting, memorable images of production and a continuous relationship through my business services.
Experience : 1989 - 1992 : I worked as a cameraman in many commercials, video clips, and movies of which the most famous was "The Immigrant" for the prominent director Youssef Chahine. The film ended achieving many international awards at a number of global film festivals.
1986 - 1989 : I worked as an assistant cameraman with a number of fine directors of photography both Arabs, and westerns.
Skills : I have experience in film formats from 35mm down to 16mm, high definition, and digital betacam, table top shooting all types of products, food and liquids and also an excellent experience in aerial shots .
